Hi! My name is Leo. I operate a small Website that is hosted by xoom.com, one of the leading free webspace providers in America. I'm your host for the next twelve month when we take a look at the NEW Perry Rhodan stories. I write these reviews for an international audience. Experienced readers, especially those from Germany, may please apologize if I include too much basic information in the reviews. I am aware that many international fans are not up to date with developments in DaGlaush and the other showplaces of the Perry Rhodan Universe.

Today, I want to tell you about issue # 1950. That's a small jubilee issue, but, anyway, it's the last jubilee before the big millenium event. We expect issue # 2000 in December, just a few days before the dawn of the new millenium. Nice coincidence, isn't it?

"THOREGON SECHS" is written by Robert Feldhoff. Perry Rhodan has a mighty enemy: Shabazza. What Perry tries to do is outright crazy: He and a couple of friends wish to attack Shabazza in his own stronghold.

Not a good idea, and not a very logical plot. If Shabazza really were the mighty (and worthy) enemy, then he should have been able to shoot Perry down when his tiny invasion fleet entered the system. Well, that would have been the end of the series. So it didn't happen. Rather we are permitted to read a fascinating, but definitely improbable story.

It's also a very aggressive story. Perry Rhodan, Peacelord of the Universe, should be the 'good' guy. But he isn't. He destroys an entire planet. He uses an 'Arkon bomb', one of these very deadly weapons that we met in the beginning of the series. As a deliberate act on behalf of Perry Rhodan, the entire planet, with all its fauna and flora, is destroyed by means of an Arkon bomb. So far the Peacelord...

Well, at the end, Perry reclaims command of his old flag ship, the SOL. This is actually a spacecraft that was build on Earth during the 'Aphilie', at a time when the Earth circled round a very distant sun known as 'Medallion'. These events took place in issue # 700. It is not exactly clear why Perry Rhodan needs such a very old spaceship. The SOL should be more of a wreckage than of a spaceship, after all these years. It seems to me that this is more of a plot to attract the readership than a logical choice.

Despite the basic flaws and the improbable and illogic design of the story context, THOREGON SECHS is very pleasant to read. It is well written, there's lots of action, and it is an excellent adventure. Perry Rhodan also now has a girlfriend. That's something many readers have demanded for years. The characters are well designed. Apart from the 'big' guys, there are Fee Kellind, Monkey, Jon Cavalieri and a few others. They are very nice characters who make this story even more enjoyable.

It's Science Fiction. You need enemies, and sometimes you need action, too. I complain that the basic design has decisive flaws, but, apart from that, Robert Feldhoff presents yet another well-written, exciting space adventure.
